Announcing Fall'10 Classes
CYT offers
three 10-week sessions each school year (fall, winter & spring) with a
variety of theater arts classes taught by professionally trained teaching
artists.
CYT classes
are designed for students to begin with our 3 core classes that teach the
foundations of theater: Basics of Acting, Basics of Voice and Basics of
Movement. We encourage all
students to begin their CYT experience with these key classes before taking
Specialty or Intermediate Level classes.
Unless otherwise stated, all classes open to ages 8-18.
Only $180 for nearly 20 hours of training with professional teaching artists
Attending one of these classes makes you eligible to audition for the next CYT production
Tuesdays-

Our Gang (ages 6-7)
This wonderful high-energy class introduces children
to the fundamentals of theater, using songs, drama games, skits, and theater
fun. It is designed to build self-confidence and stimulate imagination. A
great first theater class for any child.

Basics of Acting
This multi-faceted beginning drama class deals with
the fundamentals of acting, staging, movement and interpretation. Learn how
to use your senses and draw upon them to develop characters. Other areas
covered may include improvisation, pantomime and readers’ theater.
Swing Dance
It don’t
mean a thing if it ain’t got that SWING! Join us for this fast-paced,
exciting style of dance. This
class gives students a chance to learn new swing moves in a supportive
environment where you can practice your steps in preparation for hitting the
stage or the dance floor.

Basics of Voice
Come learn to share your vocal abilities with an
audience. This class teaches the basic ways to sound good and look good
while you’re performing great music. Students will be taught the basics of
good singing technique, receive training in how to use their voices
correctly, and how to have a confident audition.
Intro to Improv (ages 9-13)
This course is
designed especially for our younger students to teach the building blocks of
Improv. Learn the theatrical and comedic craft of improvisation in a team
setting in this class of non-stop challenge and fun! Prerequisite- Basics of
Acting
Instructor- Sarah Genung
Finding Your Voice- Diction
and Vocal Production for the Stage (ages 12-18)
The actors voice is one of his most important tools.
Join us in learning the key elements of a strong stage voice
including breathing, diction, projection and more.
Prerequisites- Basics of Acting and Intermediate level acting class
Thursdays-

Session beginning August 26th through November 2nd
(no class October 14th)

Intermediate/Advanced
Voice- CYT “GLEE” (13-18)
It’s time to take your skills to the next level. This class will
focus on vocal techniques and harmonies , choreography and stage presence.
CYT “Glee” will feature songs in the style of the hit TV show Glee –
Prerequisites: Basics of Voice,
Intermediate level voice class and Basics of Movement
Additional $20 materials fee required.

Classes,

change. Generally a maximum of 20 students per class on a first come
first served basis.
A minimum enrollment required for a class to be held.
